CLASSROOM FACT CARDS — paraphrases of the Royal British Legion and United Nations. A themed reflection, not an assertion that the lesson date is an observance.

R1. The Royal British Legion describes the red poppy as remembering service and sacrifice and expressing hope for peace.

R2. The Legion says wearing a poppy is a personal choice; people may remember in different ways.

U1. The UN International Day of Peace, on 21 September, promotes peace and non-violence.

U2. These are different observances. Their stated aims allow a comparison about peace, not a claim that they are identical.
