How to use UAS Register
The whole flow, start to finish. Steps 1–2 are one-offs; 3–4 happen once per unit; 5–6 are your day-to-day; 7 is what you send off.
1 · Set up your centre (once)
Go to Settings and fill in your centre name, centre number and your name as unit teacher. These flow onto every summary sheet, cover page and PDF automatically, so you never type them again.
2 · Add your pupils (once)
On the Pupils tab, add each pupil's forename, surname and — if you know it — their 4-digit AQA learner number. The learner number fills the "Number" column on the official summary sheet. You can add it later by pressing Edit next to a pupil.
3 · Import a unit
On Units, press Import an outcome sheet. Four routes, most reliable first:
Paste text — open the AQA unit document in Word, select all, copy, paste. Works offline, reads everything.
PDF upload — for PDFs saved straight from Word (real text inside).
Scan / photo (OCR) — for photocopies and photos. Slower, needs internet the first time, and only works when the app is opened from the website (not inside a Claude preview).
Type it in — blank unit, you type the outcomes yourself.
Every route lands on the Check what was read screen. Skim it — fix any misread words, add or remove outcomes — then Save unit.
4 · Enrol pupils on the unit
The unit page opens after saving. Tap the name of every pupil doing this unit — cards turn green with an ENROLLED stamp. Only enrolled pupils appear on the register and the summary sheet. Then press Open the register for this unit →.
5 · Mark the register (every lesson)
The Register tab has two modes on the toggle:
Outcomes — pick an outcome chip, then tap each pupil who achieved it today. Tapping stamps the date shown in the date box; tap again to remove it. To backdate, change the date first, then tap. The coverage grid underneath shows every pupil against every outcome — tap any cell there too. Gaps are visible at a glance before you claim.
Attendance — flip the toggle, tap everyone who's in. It saves as you tap, one session per date, listed below for checking or deleting.
6 · Add work examples (as you go)
Press the dashed + under the pupil names (or next to any outcome on the unit page). Take or choose a photo, add a caption if you like, and untick any pupils it doesn't belong to — everyone starts ticked, which suits group work. Each example gets its own AQA-style reference automatically: 121766/O3/A, then /B, /C per outcome. Tap a thumbnail any time to view or delete it.
7 · Claim the unit
On Summary sheet, choose the unit, then:
Build sheet — the official AQA summary sheet, filled from your register. If anyone is missing a date it warns you by name first. Print is A4 landscape.
Build evidence pack — cover page plus one page per work example, A4 portrait.
Download PDF (for email) — the whole lot in one file: cover, summary sheet and every work example, named ready to attach to an email. This is the one to send.
Look after your data
Everything lives in this browser on this computer — nothing is uploaded anywhere. That means a reimaged laptop or a cleared browser takes your register with it. So: Settings → Export backup after any big marking session. The backup includes the photos, and restores on any computer with Import backup.
If something won't import
A PDF that "has no text" is a scan — use the OCR tab, or better, paste from the original Word file. If OCR misreads a word, just correct it on the review screen; nothing saves until you press Save unit. And if the reader ever gets a sheet properly wrong, send Made by Matt a copy of the sheet so the parser can learn it.

Evidence pack cover page
The pack ships with a plain AQA-purple cover. Upload your school's own cover page (an image of it) and every pack — print and PDF — uses that instead. It's saved in this browser and included in backups.
Backup
Everything lives in this browser only. Export a backup after big marking sessions, and before anyone reimages the laptop.
