This is a boundary-testing model. The important evidence appears when output plateaus, the active site distorts, or damage becomes irreversible.
Mission mode
Keep output inside the target band for consecutive cycles. Adjust core heat, fuel feed, and pH buffer. A completed adjustment costs one energy; each committed cycle costs five. The same configuration always gives the same result.
Failure rules
Low or moderate heat changes collision frequency. Excess heat permanently lowers active-site integrity; cooling afterwards cannot rebuild a denatured catalyst. Extreme pH changes active-site charge and shape but is reversible in this model. Competitive contaminants occupy the active site; non-competitive contaminants deform it elsewhere.
Open Lab
Switch to Open Lab to set contaminant type, concentration, and the Q10 coefficient directly. The optional 1/v plot compares the current condition with an uninhibited reference so changes in apparent Km and Vmax are visible. Before the optimum, Q10 controls how strongly rate rises for each 10°C increase; beyond the optimum, structural damage dominates.
Access
Controls work with touch, mouse, and keyboard. There is no reflex timing. Press R for a panic-free baseline reset. Voice reads status callouts aloud; icon mode removes visible wording while retaining accessible names. Low-stimulus mode removes scanlines, glows, motion and continuous sonification while retaining all model evidence.
Lesson-deck control
When embedded, the app accepts mbm-set-theme, mbm-set-focus, mbm-pause-all, and mbm-export-all messages.
