Watch the thinking: I test the cation and the anion separately, give evidence for each, then combine. Every claim needs a “because”.

Q: An unknown white compound dissolves in water. Tests: flame = yellow; acidified silver nitrate = white precipitate.

🎯 Pattern: Flame → cation. Reagent test → anion. Combine → compound. Each identification needs evidence (“because the flame was yellow”), never just the answer.

Talk to your partner: in part (a), what is the evidence that wins the second mark? Be ready to build an answer yourselves next.
