I Do

The Model β€” Completing a Vocational Task

Key Idea: Plan, work safely to the standard, finish, and review.
Step 0 of 3

Plan the whole task.

Gather your tools, read the steps, and picture the finish. Planning up front means fewer problems part-way through.

Work safely to the standard.

Bring together everything from the module: safety, instructions, teamwork and tool skills. Aim for the standard, not just done.

Finish and review.

Complete the task, then review it against the standard: what went well, what you would do differently. That review is part of the skill.

I Do

Proving It β€” The Evidence Loop

Key Idea: A completed task, done safely to the standard and reviewed, is your evidence.
Step 0 of 3

Documentarian

photo your finished task.

Annotate

write β€˜what went well was ___; next time I would ___’.

Witness

staff sign your completed vocational task.

For the moderator, not just the folder

A tick says it happened. A witness statement says what you did. Before the photo is filed, the adult writes one sentence naming the thing they actually saw you do — and rings whether you did it Supported, Standard or Stretch.

That ring is the part that counts. It is the difference between “the class did this” and “this candidate did it, at this level, with this much help.” The witness sheet prints with every pack.

πŸ‘€ On your own

Task: Complete a supported vocational task from start to finish, safely and to the standard, then review it.

Steps: Work it through β€” photo as you go, annotate at the end, witness tick before you pack up.

πŸš€ Take it further

Task: Complete a vocational task with minimal support, meet the standard, and evaluate it against the brief.

Steps: Task first, evaluation second β€” judge the quality, not just completion.
