Review record
Scope: 120 current lessons: 78 Humanities lessons from Autumn 1 to Spring 2 and 42 RE lessons across Autumn 1 and 2. Each of the three pathways has 40 lessons. Fourteen missing Humanities Autumn 2 BUILD/GROW lessons were recovered from an earlier supplied pack and revised.
The supplied Humanities scheme also plans 39 Summer lesson slots. No matching created Summer lessons were in the reviewed packs. RE source planning covers Autumn only. Those periods are not represented as completed lessons.
Changes across the packs
- Matched the stated outcome, teaching sequence and assessment evidence to the supplied scheme; corrected internal examples, sources and datasets where they did not serve those aims.
- Linked worked models to relevant named evidence. Added retrieval prompts, supported/standard/stretch routes, independent organisers, printable shared-activity cards and teacher answers.
- Kept varied shared work: matching, sequencing, decisions, maps, source investigation, ranking, graphs, presentations and portfolios. Added keyboard-operated checks and feedback to card activities.
- Retained BUILD’s concrete and symbol-supported tasks, GROW’s explanation and comparison, and LAUNCH’s evidence and application. RE LAUNCH remains an adult-life pathway without GCSE marking bands.
- Rebuilt offline captioned teaching models and editable slides. Every lesson has a one-page A4 knowledge organiser, pupil pack and teacher notes.
Checks and remaining limits
All 120 HTML lessons passed automated DOM execution checks for the nine stages, route controls and their tested interactions, with no JavaScript errors or duplicate IDs. All 240 revised Word files were rendered; page-bound checks found no empty pages or text outside the page. PDF organisers were checked for one-page A4 output. Slide packages were validated and rendered. Representative and dense page layouts were visually reviewed. Eleven data workbooks were created; fieldwork blank/zero behaviour was tested.
Live browser layout, phone/touch behaviour and playback on a school device could not be verified here because the available browser blocked local files. Check those before teaching. Source restrictions are recorded separately. This is a resource review against the supplied pathway guidance, not an assessment of individual learners; adjust reading, communication and sensory support using their plans.
UAS evidence prompts are included, but the supplied material does not identify the centre’s approved unit codes or exact statements. Staff must map evidence to those selected units before claiming accreditation. Local fieldwork still needs a suitable location, consent and the centre’s normal arrangements.
Lesson-by-lesson record
Outcome and assessment below reproduce the supplied scheme. Each lesson folder contains the revised materials.
LAUNCH_S1_W01 · Explaining causes of conflict
Outcome: Explain the causes of a twentieth century conflict.
Assessment: F: book task, questioning and two exit questions.
Shared activity: chain — Distinguish longer-term factors, decisions and the immediate trigger in Europe in 1939. Use the source set to connect the factors.
Independent task: Explain supported causal links leading to war in Europe in 1939. Use at least two factors and the invasion of Poland. Avoid claiming that one date alone explains the conflict.
Changes: Worked model linked to named relevant evidence; Arrival retrieval and pathway-specific supports; Task organiser and paper interaction cards; Consistent media transcript and source labels
LAUNCH_S1_W02 · Understanding the Holocaust respectfully
Outcome: Study the Holocaust sensitively linked to Holocaust Memorial Day.
Assessment: F: accurate contextual response and exit check; monitor regulation.
Shared activity: source — Establish factual context and the meanings of antisemitism, persecution and genocide. Examine a calm remembrance example.
Independent task: Write an accurate contextual response explaining what the Holocaust was. Create a brief memorial statement grounded in a source. Explain one word or design choice without inventing testimony.
Changes: Worked model linked to named relevant evidence; Arrival retrieval and pathway-specific supports; Task organiser and paper interaction cards; Consistent media transcript and source labels
LAUNCH_S1_W03 · Evaluating survivor testimony
Outcome: Evaluate survivor testimony from a curated online archive.
Assessment: F: source annotations, evidence selection and evaluation.
Shared activity: source — Read or listen to the curated prewar-life testimony segment. Identify the speaker, remembered period and later recording context.
Independent task: Annotate the credited testimony with what it reveals about one person’s life. Select a precise detail and evaluate its usefulness for the enquiry. State a relevant limitation without dismissing personal testimony.
Changes: Worked model linked to named relevant evidence; Arrival retrieval and pathway-specific supports; Task organiser and paper interaction cards; Consistent media transcript and source labels
LAUNCH_S1_W04 · Why remembrance matters
Outcome: Explain the significance of remembrance.
Assessment: F: significance response and exit check.
Shared activity: rank — Compare remembrance choices using accuracy, recognition and evidence. Justify a choice without ranking the value of victims’ lives.
Independent task: Explain the significance of remembrance using contextual and personal evidence. Create a respectful reflection. Evaluate how a particular remembrance choice helps an audience understand.
Changes: Worked model linked to named relevant evidence; Arrival retrieval and pathway-specific supports; Task organiser and paper interaction cards; Consistent media transcript and source labels
LAUNCH_S1_W05 · Creating a digital memorial
Outcome: Create a respectful digital memorial.
Assessment: F: factual accuracy, respectful representation and explanation.
Shared activity: memorial — Check a sample for accurate facts, source credits and restrained design. Choose a factual focus and accessible layout.
Independent task: Create a short digital memorial recognising a life or historical context from the curated evidence. Include accurate facts and a source credit; use no invented quotation. Export the memorial and explain one design choice.
Changes: Worked model linked to named relevant evidence; Arrival retrieval and pathway-specific supports; Task organiser and paper interaction cards; Consistent media transcript and source labels
LAUNCH_S1_W06 · Evaluating causes and consequences
Outcome: Complete a structured evaluation of causes and consequences.
Assessment: S: half-term outcome against unit criteria; retain best evidence.
Shared activity: portfolio — Distinguish causes of war from the ideological and policy causes of persecution. Check a practice causal link against the unit evidence.
Independent task: Write a structured evaluation of causes and consequences using the unit sources. Explain connected factors and distinguish war, persecution and genocide accurately. Reach a supported conclusion and evaluate a source limitation.
