BUILD · A celebration in order

Autumn 2 · Week 4

SoW

BUILD Weekly - Autumn!B56, C56

  • Sequence the events of a celebration.

Autumn 2 Week 4, current calendar absolute Week 12. New SoW gap fill. Related donor is Autumn 2 Week 7, not a matching Week 4 lesson; it informs source boundaries only.

Prior: Builds on comparing celebration practices; no pupil belief or event attendance is presumed.

Next: Feeds respectful reflection and the later festivals display.

Preparation

Care and safety

Teacher response guidance

Evidence of learning

Receive the actual decision and reason. A completed activity does not itself certify an award or unit. Record the support actually given.

Access and independence

Offer exact reading or scribing. Allow pointing to evidence. Reduce the number of cards first, then fade the prompt; the pupil still makes the judgement.

Lundy Loop

Give space and a private response route. Receive the pupil’s own choice, name back the evidence heard and agree one actual next teaching move.

Arrival · First, next, last

Receive morning before night, Monday after Sunday and a date/time as a clue. If uncertain, read the two options exactly and let the pupil point.

Starter · Can colour tell the time?

Check that the pupil uses Sunday/Monday rather than colour or card position. Re-read only the day labels after an error.

I do · One London celebration

Explain Diwali and the next-day Hindu New Year Annakut as related celebrations in this account. Do not turn these events into a universal Diwali checklist. There is no reenactment or food handling.

We do · Build the order

Ask every pupil for an order before checking. Expected A–B–C–D. For a Monday reversal, point to the word later; then ask the pupil to revise.

I do · Later is a clue

Ask what later means in this account. The food is offered before it is shared; the two events are not interchangeable just because the day is the same.

We do · Check a mixed-up pair

Receive the corrected pair: Sunday evening before Monday. Ask which day clue settles it; do not supply a new order after the pupil has already explained.

Independent · A new celebration plan

This independent task transfers sequencing to a fictional community event; it is not a claim about a religious practice.

Exit · Show the clue

Listen for one accurate before/after link and its time clue from the new plan. Name back the actual clue used and agree whether another pair needs checking.
