I Do

The Model β€” Where Money Comes From

Key Idea: Money comes in. Money goes out.
Step 0 of 3

Money IN (wages, benefits) vs money OUT (spending).

Money IN is wages, benefits, gifts β€” money that becomes yours. Money OUT is everything you spend. Every household runs on the balance between the two.

Sorting real examples into income and spending.

Sorting real examples builds the reflex: pocket money IN, bus fare OUT, birthday tenner IN, phone top-up OUT. The reflex is what keeps budgets honest later.

Why we don't share personal family finances.

Family finances stay private β€” always. We practise on example money so everyone can join in with nothing personal on the table.

Proving It β€” The Evidence Loop

Key Idea: Launch extension: one written line β€” one thing you'd move from your spending list to your saving list, and why.

Documentarian

photo your sort.

Annotate

'income is ___, spending is ___'.

Witness

staff tick 'sorted income vs spending', sign β€” banks LI M1.

For the moderator, not just the folder

A tick says it happened. A witness statement says what you did. Before the photo is filed, the adult writes one sentence naming the thing they actually saw you do — and rings whether you did it Supported, Standard or Stretch.

That ring is the part that counts. It is the difference between “the class did this” and “this candidate did it, at this level, with this much help.” The witness sheet prints with every pack.

🀝 With support

Task: Post the money picture cards into the IN and OUT tins. Two are posted already so you can see the sort.

Steps: One step at a time β€” adult support is right there. Photo when you’re proud of it.

πŸ‘€ On your own

Task: Sort the money cards into INCOME and SPENDING, then add one of your own to each side.

Steps: Work the task through β€” photo as you go, annotate at the end, witness tick before you pack up.

πŸš€ Take it further

Task: Sort the money cards into INCOME and SPENDING, then add one of your own to each side. Stretch: explain why borrowed money can cost more than it gives.

Steps: Task first, stretch second β€” and your annotation should explain the why, not just the what.

Lundy Loop β€” Your Voice on the Wall

Why: Article 12 β€” your view counts here, and it genuinely changes what happens next.

πŸšͺ SPACE

The Money-Smart Board never shows anyone's real family money β€” examples are always practice money, and 'pass' is always allowed.

πŸ“£ VOICE

Say one thing you would like to save up for. No amounts, no real family money β€” just the thing.

πŸ‘₯ AUDIENCE

The room hears the goal, never the numbers. That is the rule on this board.

⭐ INFLUENCE

The things you pin become the items in our practice shop β€” you are choosing what we price up.
