The Model — A Balanced Plate

Key Idea: Balance your plate, power your day.
Step 0 of 3

What a balanced plate looks like.

A balanced plate has the Eatwell shape on it: a good share of veg, a fuel portion, a builder portion — not one group wearing the whole plate.

Choosing portions from each group.

Portions are chosen, not poured: a fist of carbs, a palm of protein, half the plate working for the veg.

Swapping one item for a healthier option.

One swap at a time is how real eating changes — wholemeal for white, water for pop. Small swaps stick; overhauls snap back.

We Do

Make one swap

How it works: Tap each card to reveal one healthy swap — guess it before you tap. Found: 0/4
Bread and pasta
Chicken and beans
Milk and yoghurt
Apples and carrots

I Do

Proving It — The Evidence Loop

Key Idea: Launch extension: one written line — the swap you'd actually keep past next week, and why that one.
Step 0 of 3

Documentarian

photo your balanced plate.

Annotate

'my healthy swap is ___'.

Witness

staff tick 'built a balanced plate', sign.

For the moderator, not just the folder

A tick says it happened. A witness statement says what you did. Before the photo is filed, the adult writes one sentence naming the thing they actually saw you do — and rings whether you did it Supported, Standard or Stretch.

That ring is the part that counts. It is the difference between “the class did this” and “this candidate did it, at this level, with this much help.” The witness sheet prints with every pack.

We Do

Match the Food to Its Group and Portion

Step 1: Tap a card, then its partner. Step 2: Watch the WAGOLL write itself. Score: 0/4
Bread and pasta
Chicken and beans
Milk and yoghurt
Apples and carrots
Protein — about a palm of it, the builder share
Carbohydrates — about a fist of it, the fuel share
Fruit & veg — half the plate, working hardest
Dairy — a small serving alongside, for bones and teeth

🤝 With support

Task: Build your plate on the labelled sections, then choose one swap card and place it on the item it replaces.

Steps: One step at a time — adult support is right there. Photo when you’re proud of it.

👤 On your own

Task: Build a balanced plate from the food cards and make one healthy swap, explaining it.

Steps: Work the task through — photo as you go, annotate at the end, witness tick before you pack up.

🚀 Take it further

Task: Build a balanced plate from the food cards and make one healthy swap, explaining it. Stretch: balance a plate for someone with one food rule (no dairy, vegetarian…).

Steps: Task first, stretch second — and your annotation should explain the why, not just the what.

Lundy Loop

Lundy Loop — Your Voice on the Wall

Why: Article 12 — your view counts here, and it genuinely changes what happens next.

🚪 SPACE

The Balanced-Plate Gallery is judgement-free — no food shaming, no diet talk, and the allergy list is checked before anything edible appears.

📣 VOICE

Say the one swap you would actually keep. Keeping one beats promising five.

👥 AUDIENCE

Partners hear the swap, not the plate — we discuss the choice, never anyone's eating.

⭐ INFLUENCE

The swaps the room would keep become the swaps we stock and practise.
