Know what is in it
- Fruit: banana and mandarin.
- Oatcake: a starchy food. Yoghurt: dairy or an approved alternative.
- This snack is one example. A single snack does not have to include every food group.

Read before you swap
- The recipe uses plain yoghurt. A substitute pot says “contains SOYA”.
- A pupil says, “It is a different yoghurt, so it must be fine.”

Our amounts for one

Watch the measuring

- Zero again before adding the next ingredient.
- Read the water mark with the jug level and your eyes beside the mark.

Read, make, check
- Read one recipe step, do it, check it, then tick: prepare fruit, weigh, assemble and pour.
- Stop at each step for your partner’s check. Keep the oatcake separate.
- Return chilled ingredients promptly; use clean serving tools.
